A Love Affair with M/V Doulos and Books

Being on the largest water book fair and the oldest continuing water transportation is such a thrilling sight. You could see lots of people going to that ship either to buy their good, cheap books or to wonder about this wonderful creation. I have been to that situation five years ago. I was a young kid then. It was so fun when I first came to Doulos and it was even more when it came back five years after.
Now thirteen years old, and going for the third time to Doulos (I went two times on two different occasions five years ago), it was even more exciting because I heard that Doulos has become better and also, my classmates were going with me(it was a school tour).
We started the tour with the second years last February 2007. We rode with eight jeepneys (two per section) going to Pier 1. On the way, we had so much fun talking and playing until our teacher scolded us near Pier 1 because she said that by there, we had to behave because we were carrying the name of our school (so much for fun). When we reached Pier 1, we had to follow the line the guard told us. Then we went to the ship by groups of twenty-five. We only had to follow the grouping when we’re going up to the stairs because they said the stairs might fall if we are more than 25 but when we went down, we never followed the grouping (no one told us to go down by groups). While most of us were watching and reading some books while others bought them. There were many great books inside the ship and were really cheap compared to the price sold by bookstores. After an hour or so, we went down, we never knew it but we had to go back again to the shop but know to a different stair going to the upper cabin. We had to attend a short, youth seminar with another school. So it was. The students of the other school came in and were first in going up (they were first in line because our teachers never told us about it or even commanded us to form a line). When we reached the cabin, we squatted down on the floor and watched a video presentation while waiting for the speaker. He then came and greeted us warmly. After that, he leaded two games. One was a trivia-type game about Doulos and the other was a speed game which you and your opponent had to wear the engineer’s coat and gloves with a life vest and you had to sound the gong opposite to the players. We had a tie on the first game but our school won on the second. The speaker then told us about Jesus and the purpose of Doulos and showed us a video about it and in what situation we have right now. After the seminar, they were giving us magazines about God and the Bible. We really did enjoy the seminar.
Before we went home there was a heat going on between the two schools. It almost started a fight between our school and theirs. Good thing our teacher stopped it.
But even though there was a little fight, we still had a remembrance of what Doulos did to us and had grown a relationship. A love relationship.
